investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man on
a South Side street early today. David Earl Carney Jr.,
of the 4800 block of South Chicago Avenue, was shot to
death, the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 8100
block of South Eberhart Avenue about 2:24 a.m. and found
Carney unresponsive, Chicago Police Officer Daniel
O'Brien said. Carney had been shot in the head and
