Well first off, I was sick as a dog! Yeah, on today of all days. I woke up and Could. Not. Move. I usually went on my morning runs with Joe, and when I was about 10 minutes late he knocked on my bedroom door and came in to see why I hadn't showed up. Joe: Babe, why are you still asleep? I looked at him and couldn't even speak. I think I did something with my arm and his eyes got really wide. Joe: Are you sick?! *He came over and started feeling my forehead and asking me a bunch of questions that I couldn't understand.* I'm gonna go get you some medicine. You better have something in your bathroom! *He ran to my bathroom and started looking for something to help me feel better right away. He came back with some kind of green liquid stuff and I took it.* I'm gonna call Kevin and tell him I won't be home all day. You can go back to sleep if it'll make you feel better. I think I smiled a little bit and tried to say I love you to him. Although it came out as more of a "I waiwa" than anything. Joe: *He sat on the bed next to me.* I love you too, babe! *He kissed me on the forehead.* Kevin! *I didn't hear the rest of the conversation because I fell asleep. I pretty much slept the whole day. I woke up and threw up a few times. I think. And everytime I opened my eyes even for a minute, Joe was sitting in a chair next to my bed. He had video games and movies to keep him occupied, but he would've stayed even if he didn't. Kevin came to visit me a few times as well. I think. And so did Nick. Maybe. Mommy forced medicine down my throat a couple times, I know for a fact. And Joe tried to get me to eat. Which I was not feeling. But, around 9.30 at night I woke up and felt a lot better than I had 14 hours before. Shannon: *Joe didn't realize I had opened my eyes.* Babe, you really stayed here the whole day? Joe: *He looked at me and smiled.* I see you're feeling better. I can actually understand you. Well, I understood you before, but now other people can understand you. Shannon: Today went by kinda fast. Joe: Yeah, coz you were sleeping! *He sat next to me and felt my head.* You don't feel as warm as you did before. Shannon: *I smiled at him and held my arms out so that he would hug me. Which he did.* Happy Birthday. *I laughed a little.* I'm sorry I ruined it. Joe: No! You didn't ruin anything. My party isn't until Friday anyway. And then I'm gonna tell anyone who doesn't already know that I love you and we're getting married on June 6th, 2009! And that we're dating and all that good stuff. Shannon: I can't believe it... You're 18! This is like, the day we've been waiting for for 11 years now. And I'm sick! Joe: *He looked at me and shook his head.* Only you would get sick on a big important day like this. Shannon: Shut up! Anyway, you're probably tired. You should get home and get to sleep. Joe: Home? I'm staying here. You might have a relapse in the middle of the night. I'm gonna stay and make sure you feel 100% better before I leave. But maybe I should run home and get some clothes. *He was still in his running clothes.* Shannon: Good idea. And ask Mommy for a blanket. Joe: I will. Be right back. If you fall asleep then I love you and sweet dreams. Shannon: I love you too, but I'll stay awake until you're back. Joe: Oh babe, you don't have to. Vodafone withdrew original proposals for an 11ft pole with three antennas back in October 2006 after complaints from residents. But now the mobile phone company has submitted new plans for a 12ft pole with SIX antennas just 100 metres from elderly residents' homes. The plans would see the mast placed on the green area in front of the Methodist Church on the corner of Ludwick Way and Cole Green Lane in WGC. Residents and shopkeepers are already gathering signatures against the plans. Speaking to the WHT, the Rev John Churcher said he was just as concerned two years on. In a letter to Welwyn Hatfield Council, which will decide on the planning application, he said: "Why is it necessary for Vodafone to install these six antennas right in the centre of a residential area, with children constantly passing on their way to local shops and schools? "With a number of elderly people living within 100 metres of the proposed antennas, who are suffering from and being treated for cancer, why add to their anxiety by placing antennas that transmit low level radiation so close to their homes?" Cole Green House resident Del Walker, whose living room looks out on to the green, was also against the plans. The 73-year-old said: "We have three golf courses in the town with more than enough room for them. "Why can't it go in the industrial estates or in the council office's car park? "It's so intrusive."
