The Song You Gave To Me, Fox-Trot - Dick Rose And His
Band, recorded for Homochord in 1933.
I first heard this brilliant 78 several months ago and
was instantly 'taken over' by the impeccably early-30's
sound and the gorgeous vocal - despite the fact that I'd
never heard of the band before. Through a combination of
sheer luck and persistence I finally managed to find a
copy through a dealer in the UK. Surprise! As it turns
out, "Dick Rose and his Band" is a pseudonym that covers
the identity of Charlie Kunz and the Casani Club
Orchestra, who in 1933 recorded a few sides for the
Homochord
